School Programme:

Strada Bhakti Utama Junior High School is part of Perkumpulan Strada, which is also part of the Catholic Church as an extended arm in proclaiming the Kingdom of God by contributing to the intellectual development of the nation through educational services inspired by the spirit of Strada’s founders and the noble values of the Jakarta Archdiocese (KAJ).

Perkumpulan Strada was founded by three Jesuit priests known as the “three pioneers”:

  • Father Josephus Wilhelmius Maria Wubbe, SJ
  • Father Antonius Theodorus van Hoof, SJ
  • Father Johannes Josephus Hubertus Maria van Rijckevorsel, SJ

They established the organization on May 24, 1924, in Batavia (now Jakarta).

Perkumpulan Strada (Strada Association) consistently and continuously provides attention to education for prosperous families as its primary mission in the apostolate of KAJ. In carrying out its mission, Perkumpulan Strada remains active and adaptive to changes and demands in society.

Strada Bhakti Utama JHS is a green school that adopts sustainability principles and environmental awareness as an integral part of school activities and culture. One of its main characteristics is its strong commitment to environmentally friendly practices in all aspects of school life. This is reflected in eco-friendly building design, efficient waste management, and the planting and preservation of vegetation within the school environment. Strada Bhakti Utama JHS will also explore the use of renewable energy. Thus, the school is not only a place for formal education but also a model for students in applying sustainable practices in daily life.

In addition, Strada Bhakti Utama JHS uses an environmentally, Ignation Pedagogy Paradim (IPP) &  students’ characters focused learning approach. The curriculum is designed to:

  1. Increase students’ environmental awareness, strengthen their skills in natural resource management.
  2. Promote proactive attitudes toward environmental conservation. Students are encouraged to participate in activities such as tree planting, school garden management, recycling programs, and environmental research projects. Through this approach, the school not only creates an inspiring learning environment but also fosters a deep understanding of the relationship between humans and nature.
  3. Educate students by applying personal guidance (cura personalis) and Ignatian pedagogy, in line with each individual’s development (differentiated learning) at every grade level.
  4. Apply Ignatian pedagogy in the teaching and learning process. Teacher quality is the second-highest priority, and teachers are expected to be competent, dedicated, and able to implement Ignatian pedagogy.
  5. Strengthen the relationship between the school and parents through proactive, personal, and timely communication regarding each child’s development.
  6. Prepare students well for their future (senior high school/vocational school and social life), including 21st-century skills. Learning is supported by technology and AI. Students grow in character and are able to filter negative influences from the digital world.
  7. Create a physically and emotionally safe environment ensures that students can learn without fear, pressure, or intimidation. The school becomes an enjoyable place, a learning environment that brings happiness, and a pleasant sanctuary for students. Classrooms are managed in an orderly and clean manner, supporting concentration so that learning activities can take place optimally.Create a physically and emotionally safe environment ensures that students can learn without fear, pressure, or intimidation. 8. Emphasize not only academic achievement, but also character development, self-discipline, and the formation of conscience. Spiritual activities, reflection, and concrete actions encourage students to be attentive to themselves, to others, and to their environment. In this way, the school becomes a place that nurtures the values of empathy, care, and responsibility.
  9. Carry out a consistent habit-building process, not merely teaching theory. Character is internalised when it is practiced continuously. When students of Strada Bhakti Utama JHS graduated, they are expected to embody the five cores of Perkumpulan Strada values: service, honesty, discipline, care, and excellence.
  10. Learn at Strada Bhakti Utama JHS is designed to help students become critical learners. The learning process is carried out in a way that enables students to engage in deep learning that is meaningful, joyful, and mindful. Teachers are required to be innovative in their teaching practices. They prepare lesson plans so that the material taught is structured and explored in greater depth. The school creates a safe space for experimentation. Teachers serve as role models—lifelong learners who continually grow—so that they may help realise the vision of Perkumpulan Strada: to develop a modern school rooted in culture and committed to living out the Strada core values throughout one’s lifetime.
